Oh, the lovely fickleness of an April day!

4 Apr

The weather has been unbelievably gorgeous and I’m making the most of it!!! πŸ™‚ It is a little bizarre that the temperature is high enough for it to be summer, yet the tree branches remain bare like it’s still winter. But since the weekend gave way to beach/patio weather, can’t complain. πŸ˜€

What does April have in store for me?

30 new foods! My April experiment is to try to be more adventurous with grocery shopping (yes, this is the extent of my adventurousness now) by trying 30 new foods this month! Recos welcome. πŸ˜‰

Allergies. Walked through the park yesterday and I started itching everywhere… 😦

Biking to work: yay, I managed to fix my bike wheel, so I’m gonna bust it out and start biking to work next week (if the rain holds). Knowing Markham drivers, I wouldn’t be surprised if I got run over. 😐

Bookworming: I’m going to start digging into the reading list that I accumulated from March. (great suggestions btw!)

Dallas: going to Texas mid-April for a few days for work. Should be fun! πŸ™‚ We’ve been ramping up for it slowly over the past few weeks, and most of the prep work is pretty much done.

Dance class: I joined a fusion dance class and it turned out to be at a very beginner level. Regretting it a bit… but it’s too late to switch over to another class, and I’ve already paid, so I guess I’ll be sticking it out for the next few weeks… xD

Fun run: I’m thinking about signing up for a run, a 5k or 10k one. I don’t know if I have it in me though, because my body’s just been feeling kind of off for the past few weeks.

Done with Lent! Which means all the lying, swearing and gum-chewing I want!!! Lol, I’m just kidding… although I did discover that I become a lot more snappy and less patient when I can’t swear. And not being able to make fibs is extremely inconvenient… although I’ll try to keep it up. πŸ˜›

Shopping sprees: I decided to get a new camera. That’s going to be my big splurge item. πŸ˜€ Also some new work clothes, and some biking gear. πŸ˜€

… and lots more in store, I’m sure. πŸ™‚

Recapping March…

I gave up chewing gum for Lent, which made me on edge and easily agitated. Giving up swearing for Lent also made me super-disagreeable and snappy. I accumulated $34 in my swear jar. xD

I also gave up lying for Lent, which was probably the one that left the most lasting influence on me. I didn’t realize how inconvenient it is to not be able to tell fibs and white lies… a convenience that I’ve always taken for granted, I guess. I’ll try to keep it up even now that Lent’s over. πŸ™‚

I also gave up eating packaged foods for March (gah!), and that started really taking a toll on me by the end of the 2nd week. I would feel more and more tired each day and by the 3rd week of March, I just didn’t have the energy to exercise anymore. Even today, I could barely drag myself to water the garden, and that was pretty much the extent of my exercise. xD

But I shouldn’t make it seem like March was horrendous or anything, a lot of great things happened in March. A lot of great times with old friends, meet-ups with new ones, and I feel like my friends are having a more and more profound influence on me these days, as we progress from “activity friends” to “conversation friends”. Good stuffs. πŸ™‚

LENT

17 Feb

Lent is here. I didn’t even remember until Lucy reminded me. I always thought Lent was later on in the year than this. Is life creeping up on me faster than ever?

This year, I’m giving up: Continue reading
