Weekend Update :]

29 Mar

Sleeping in on Saturday was so sweet.

I’d been running on 7 hours of sleep most nights last week, and I’m already too old for that kind of foolishness, lol.

So Saturday, went downtown to have lunch with Wendy & Yunjie! Found out a bit about what’s going on in their exciting lives, and of course, the conversation eventually digressed to relationships again, lol.

After, I met up with Coolin for our weekly coffee chat. Apparently, our conversation was so interesting that the man sitting next to us couldn’t help but chip in. Too bad for Coolin it wasn’t a hot girl. Next time, we’ll be sure to sit next to one and loudly project our intriguing topics of conversation. πŸ™‚

I lost track of time and ended up being late for my dinner plans. Had dinner in North York, then went for dessert at an Asian place called The Sugar. I think it may have been my first time going to an Asian dessert place – actually I didn’t know such a thing existed outside of bbt – and I actually like it a lot better than Demetres-type places because it’s not as sweet (ironic considering its name).

On Sunday, I went to buy my bike!!!

I got the Triumph Challenge (name=win!). Riding it throughout the store made me really excited to bike to work, haha. It’s been so long since I’ve ridden a bike. I was right in between the size for a youth bike and an adult bike, but I chose to get the adult bike and then lower the seat to the lowest peg. πŸ˜›

I also got a bell (ding ding!) and a matching helmet, and a basket to hook up to the front of my bike.Β  When I got home, it took me a good hour to set up the front wheel (which we had to take off because the bike wouldn’t fit in the car otherwise) and the bike basket. I still haven’t been able to figure out how to hook on the front wheel’s brakes properly. 😦 Gotta do that tomorrow and hopefully be able to start biking to work by later this week, since the weather is going to be so amazing!

Alsoooo, I finally did my taxes!! Yayyyy! A load off my shoulders, haha. And it was surprisingly easy. Can’t believe I put it off for over a week and all it took was half an hour! πŸ˜€ I was actually kind of disappointed at my refund amount. For some reason, I thought that tax refunds were supposed to be enough to buy you a car or something… well, that’s what happens when your mom does your taxes for years, lol. πŸ˜›

I expect that this will be enough to at least make me debt-free. THAT will be an occasion to celebrate. I feel like I’m on the verge of a humongous shopping spree here… hehehe! πŸ˜€

Lazy Sunday… Bye Bye Olympics!

28 Feb

Ooo, busy busy weekend! πŸ™‚ Saturday, went downtown to have coffee with a friend and then Cathy’s bday dinner with dragonboat peeps.

Cathy's bday dinner @Trapezzi

An Italian restaurant in Greektown, which Tian repeatedly said was “very nice”, lol.

AMAZING CAKE from Pusateri's!

Yo… this was some goddurn good cake… best I’ve had in a while. o_o Coffee Cognac Cake… with styrofoam topping, lol.

Sunday was a busy day taking care of odds and ends, and I had brunch with Coolin at his uncle’s restaurant in First Markham Place.

Tomato soup from the Chinese restaurant xD

The restaurant was HK cafe style and it served WHITE FOOD. I just couldn’t wrap my head around it… it was a Chinese restaurant with Chinese decor and menus in Chinese, but it served things like spaghetti bolognaise, portugal chicken, and smoked salmon with potato salad… and the meals come with coffee, tomato soup and rolls…. what?? what???

Smoked salmon with fresh fruit and potato salad

This concept is so foreign to me, but apparently it’s common and very popular. :S :S :S

Rushed home for the HOCKEY SHOWDOWN which was as epic as I could’ve wished for. πŸ˜€ What a dramatic finish, imo the perfect way to end the 2010 Olympics.

I do say that the Olympics have brought on a Canadian pride and sense of nationality that I’ve had before. I’ve alwas identified with China a lot more than Canada, but now, I think I may just make the switch over. Or who knows, maybe just end up being Canada’s fairweather friend, lol.

I’m so sad that the Olympics are over… my life has just been work, Olympics, and repeat for the past 2 weeks lol.

It’s time to get a life again. πŸ˜› I’ve been way too pre-occupied with Olympics to even blog… I’m sorry, I know that must’ve been extremely distressing for you, my loyal readers (:P), so I’ll leave you with this:

If you liked it, then you shoulda put a ring on it.

Fun weekend =]

13 Dec

Ahh, what a nice relaxing weekend!

Came home from work to a delish meal prepared by my dad! It was kind of a celebratory dinner for my dad having gotten a new job, although I guess that would’ve worked out better if it had been someone other than my dad doing the cooking. xD We had roasted duck and steamed fish, mmm. Continue reading
